It is important to know that this event is done for the community. There is no money made directly from the organization or promotion of this contest. Yes, there are sponsors and advertising but no one has been paid to make this happen. It is simply here for fun.

Spring is the season for hair farming. Things bloom this time of year... unnatural, awkward, embarrassing and repelling things... yet, at the same time, soft, warm, cuddly, cute things, and all the while, scruff, scratchy and burly things. Sounds like a bunch of dirtbag kayakers would thrive in this environment! And so, it is time for all that pinned up aggression and those disturbing hair follicles to be released. Men, women, children, (we aren't discriminatory) if you can grow a stache and you are a paddler of any kind, grow the mustaches, grow them! Canoers, kayakers, stand-up paddle surfers, flat-water and whitewater, you are all welcome to compete. This is the contest of mustache growing among paddle sports enthusiasts. It is also a battle of wits and bravery. There is no entry fee but there are lots of valuable prizes at stake. Enter with discretion.
